From WAHM to Solicitor and WAHM!

It's been so long since I've had a chance to post and so many changes in the meantime!

I am now busier than ever, having returned to work as a solicitor 4 days a week and continuing to run my business in the evenings and weekends. I never knew it was possible to be so busy and to cram so much into a day before having children - it certainly focusses the mind and forces you to get organised!

My little girl is now 18 months old and walking like a pro - although she has a funny habit of leaning forwards, putting her arms behind her back and walking like a penguin, strange little girl... She is settling in with her childminder very well and has fallen in love with a ride on racing car in the back garden - it appears as though it's difficult to decide who she loves more at the end of the day - racing car or parents, racing car or parents.... Racing car has won on more than one occasion!

Amidst all of this, I exhibited at Swindon Baby Show last weekend and met some gorgeous mums, babies and bumps. It was a very successful show which I'm hoping to repeat again in Spring 2011. Here's a pic of the Tiny Tots' stand at the show and some recent work -

New Style Jewellery!

Big news at our house - at 16 months old, Tiny Tot has finally figured out how to use her wooden walker, yay! A little behind her friends maybe but the look of pure pride on her face was a joy to see! It does mean that my time at the computer is a bit limited as she hasn't figured out how to turn the walker around so she needs someone constantly up with her to unjam it and sort her out... She's worth it though!

I have found the time however to make this gorgeous pair of cufflinks:

I have always blackened the imprints on my jewellery but I really do like the look of the silver matt prints - I think I will offer this as an option on my jewellery from now on :-)

The Life of a WAHM

Being a work at home mum (WAHM) I guess it's fitting that my first ever blog post is being written while my 15 month old daughter (let's call her Tiny Tot) is sitting beside me at the kitchen table demolishing a cheese sandwich, chatting to herself the entire time. I guess she's a little young to be told not to eat with her mouth full!

My name is Nuala and I am a 30 year old Irish first time mum living in the UK, close to Bath. I had been making various pieces of jewellery as a hobby for years and while on maternity leave decided to launch Tiny Tots Silver Prints (www.TinyTotsSilverPrints.com) creating bespoke silver fingerprint, handprint and footprint jewellery. My website went living in June and we have been making slow and steady progress since then which is great. I may need to work elsewhere while the business builds up which is fine too as realistically most of my work is done once Tiny Tot has retired for the night.

I have been really enjoying myself so far. Making the jewellery is great and gives such a sense of achievement.

I'm currently working on some lovely pandora style dangly charms as well as a gorgeous doggy pawprint. My current challenge for the jewellery is creating a pandora style bead with a print but it's proving to be a bit challenging so might be a while off yet!
